**Bannu, Pakistan – August 24, 2025, 09:34 PM PKT**In a brazen assault late Sunday evening, terrorists targeted the Daarey Pulpolice check post in Bannu, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, sparking an intenseexchange of fire. The attack, which occurred at approximately 8:30 PM PKT,left one police constable, Rafiullah, injured, according to localauthorities.
The Central Police Office Peshawar reported that the assailants, launched acoordinated assault on the checkpoint. Armed with automatic weapons, theterrorists opened fire from multiple directions, catching the stationedpolice personnel off guard. The police responded with a robustcounterattack, leading to a prolonged gun battle that lasted over 30minutes.
Constable Rafiullah sustained injuries during the exchange and wasimmediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where he is currently receivingtreatment. His condition is reported as stable, though further medicalupdates are awaited. No casualties have been reported among the attackers,who managed to flee the scene under the cover of darkness.
Local police officials have launched a search operation in the surroundingareas to apprehend the perpetrators. The Regional Police Officer (RPO) ofBannu has vowed to leave no stone unturned in bringing the attackers tojustice, terming the incident a “cowardly attempt to destabilize peace inthe region.”

In April 2025, a group of 18 to 19 terrorists attempted asimilar assault on the same check post, which was successfully thwarted byalert police personnel.
