*Beijing-Islamabad partnership reaffirmed during sixth Strategic Dialogue*

ISLAMABAD: Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi hailed the Pakistan Army as a“loyal and strong protector” of the Pakistan-China relationship during hismeeting with Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir,in Islamabad. The meeting took place as part of Wang Yi’s official visit toPakistan for the sixth Pakistan-China Strategic Dialogue.

Both sides underlined their determination to strengthen the all-weatherstrategic partnership, reaffirming mutual commitments to regionalstability, counter-terrorism, and enhanced economic cooperation.

Wang Yi noted that in the face of an increasingly volatile globalsituation, a strong China-Pakistan partnership plays a vital role inpromoting peace and stability across the region. Highlighting Pakistan’simportance in China’s foreign policy, he emphasized that the bilateralrelationship has stood the test of time, rooted in shared beliefs andmutual respect.

The Chinese foreign minister reiterated Beijing’s firm support forPakistan’s sovereignty, regional integrity, and national security, whilealso appreciating Islamabad’s active role in international and regionalaffairs.

In response, Field Marshal Asim Munir described China as Pakistan’s “ironbrother,” stressing that both nations have always stood by each other intimes of need. He expressed gratitude for China’s contributions toPakistan’s economic and social development, and reaffirmed the PakistanArmy’s dedication to enhancing counter-terrorism and security cooperation.

The Army Chief assured unwavering efforts to safeguard Chinese citizens,projects, and institutions in Pakistan, particularly under the framework ofthe China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

The high-level meeting comes amid new progress on CPEC Phase 2.0, marking arenewed push for deeper cooperation in defence, diplomacy, and developmentbetween the two long-standing allies.
