In a significant step towards strengthening India’s air defence network,the *Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO)* hasunveiled its *IntegratedAir Defence Weapon System (IADWS)* — a multi-layered protective shielddesigned to neutralize diverse aerial threats ranging from hostile aircraftto drones and precision-guided munitions (PGMs).
The IADWS is structured with *three distinct but interlinked defence layers*,all of which are seamlessly managed through a DRDO-developed *CentralisedCommand and Control Centre (C3I)*. Recognizing the limitations of medium-range systems, DRDO has embeddedthe *AdvancedVery Short-Range Air Defence System (VSHORADS)* into the IADWS.

*Man-portable* or *vehicle-mounted launchers* give flexibility for both static and mobile defence. –
Provides critical cover against *pop-up helicopters, loitering munitions, drones, and PGMs* that evade longer-range radars.
