*BENGALURU, August 18, 2025* — Former Uttar Pradesh MLA *Bhagwan Sharma*,popularly known as *Guddu Pandit*, has been booked by Bengaluru police oncharges of *sexual assault and intimidation* following a complaint filed bya 40-year-old woman.
According to police officials, the complainant — who had been in a live-inrelationship with Sharma since 2017 — alleged that he lured her toBengaluru with the promise of marriage. The woman stated that on *August 16*,while staying at a hotel near *Kempegowda International Airport*, Sharmaallegedly forced her into sexual relations against her will and threatenedher with dire consequences if she resisted.
Authorities have registered a case under the *Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita*provisions for sexual intercourse obtained through deceitful means. Sharmahas been issued a notice to appear for questioning as part of the ongoinginvestigation.
Women’s rights groups in Karnataka have condemned the incident and demandedswift justice. Political observers note that Sharma, who was previouslywith the Bahujan Samaj Party before joining the Shiv Sena, has often beensurrounded by controversy during his political career.
