ISLAMABAD / DHAKA: After a hiatus of nearly five years, direct flights between Pakistan and Bangladesh are set to resume, signaling a breakthrough in bilateral ties and promising to deepen economic, cultural, and strategic engagement.
The Bangladesh Civil Aviation Authority (CAAB) has formally approved two Pakistani carriers—Fly Jinnah and AirSial—to operate direct passenger routes between Karachi and Dhaka. This approval paves the way for re-establishing crucial air connectivity that had been suspended since 2018.
Bangladesh’s High Commissioner to Pakistan, Muhammad Iqbal Hussain confirmed that direct passenger and cargo flights will commence in the coming months. These services are expected to greatly benefit trade flows and enhance regional accessibility.
Officials underscored that this development forms part of a broader strategy to revitalize Pakistan–Bangladesh engagement, which includes direct shipping routes, streamlined visa policies, and revamped diplomatic dialogue after a prolonged diplomatic freeze.
