*Islamabad* – The Pakistan Air Force (PAF) has strengthened itsground-based air defense capabilities with the deployment of the *Spada-2000air defense system*, armed with *Aspide surface-to-air missiles*. Thesystem, originally of Italian origin, is designed to counter hostileaircraft, drones, and precision-guided munitions at medium range.
The Spada-2000 offers *multi-target engagement capability*, providing PAFwith the ability to defend critical installations against simultaneousaerial threats. With a range of up to *20 kilometers* and a high degree ofaccuracy, the Aspide missile forms the core of the system’s strike power.
To ensure comprehensive coverage, PAF has integrated the Spada-2000 with *MPDR(Mobile Pulse Doppler Radar) units* for low-level airspace monitoring. These radars enhance detection of fast, low-flying targets and strengthenthe layered defense structure of the country’s air defense network.
Defense analysts highlight that the induction of such systems bolstersPakistan’s deterrence and provides a credible shield against evolvingaerial threats in the region. The move reflects PAF’s ongoing modernizationdrive, ensuring round-the-clock protection of key national assets andsensitive military installations.
The Spada-2000 is one of several advanced air defense systems operated byPakistan, complementing other short, medium, and long-range missiledefenses deployed across the country.
