Pakistan’s General Sahir Shamshad Visits Uzbekistan to Strengthen Defense and Security Ties

Rawalpindi: Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, arrived in Tashkent on an official visit to Uzbekistan, where he held meetings with political and military officials.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), General Sahir Shamshad met with Uzbekistan’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Defense Minister Major General Shukhrat Kholmukhammedov, and Secretary of the National Security Council Lieutenant General Viktor Mukhamedov.

The meetings focused on discussions about the changing international and regional geopolitical and security situation, as well as the commitment to enhance cooperation in defense and security sectors.

The ISPR spokesperson said that General Sahir Shamshad highlighted the deep and fraternal ties between Pakistan and Uzbekistan and emphasized advancing cooperation to promote peace, stability, and prosperity in the region.

During the visit, the Uzbek leadership appreciated the professionalism of the Pakistan Armed Forces and acknowledged the sacrifices of Pakistan’s military in the fight against terrorism.
