Muzaffarabad: Resident Arrested for Allegedly Sharing Sensitive Locations with Indian Intelligence
MUZAFFARABAD: Authorities in Pakistan-administered Kashmir have arrested a local resident on charges of espionage, accused of providing critical information about the Bilal Mosque in Muzaffarabad to Indian intelligence agencies.
The individual, identified as Obaid Jehangir from Rawalakot, was taken into custody following an investigation into the missile strike on the Bilal Mosque in May 2025. Officials allege that he shared GPS coordinates, photographs, and other sensitive details regarding the mosque and nearby installations with a foreign intelligence agency.
The arrest was made under the Official Secrets Act, and authorities stated that the suspect is expected to provide further information during the ongoing investigation. The incident highlights concerns about national security and the potential risks posed by espionage activities in sensitive regions.
Officials emphasized that the matter is under strict investigation, and necessary legal action will be taken in accordance with Pakistani law.
