Energy Boost for Pakistan: Jhal Magsi Gas Project Successfully Completed

ISLAMABAD: A major gas project in Balochistan, the Jhal Magsi Development Project, has been successfully completed, producing 14 million cubic feet of gas per day.

According to details, the Oil & Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) has successfully completed the Jhal Magsi Development Project in Balochistan.

A spokesperson for OGDCL stated that the project was completed on a fast-track basis under the directives of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. The project is yielding 14 million cubic feet of gas per day along with 45 barrels of condensate. The extracted gas has been integrated into the main pipeline network of Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC).

The spokesperson added that the project commenced in February 2024 following the government’s approval of an incentive package. OGDCL holds a 56% stake as the operator in the project, while POL has a 24% share and GHPL holds 20%.

Under corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives, OGDCL has also undertaken multiple welfare projects in Jhal Magsi, including the construction of schools, healthcare centers, and 84 model houses for low-income and homeless individuals.

The company noted that local youth are being provided technical training through scholarships and new-tech programs. Additionally, ambulances, free eye camps, and ration bags for 800 families have been provided.

The spokesperson further mentioned that to ensure clean drinking water in the region, two reverse osmosis (RO) plants and several water tanks have been installed to provide basic facilities to the local population.
