Pakistan’s Finance Minister, Muhammad Aurangzeb, on Monday indicated that the government is considering measures to ease the tax burden on the salaried class.
Speaking to the media in Karachi after visiting a job fair, he assured that the current administration is committed to further reducing taxes for salaried individuals. He added that Pakistan’s economic growth is on a positive trajectory and emphasized the need to continue strengthening the country’s economy.
Aurangzeb also urged the youth to make better use of their potential and highlighted the importance of events like job fairs in helping them explore employment opportunities. He stressed that the private sector must play a pivotal role in ensuring economic stability.
It is noteworthy that the government had already lowered the income tax ratio in the FY2025-26 budget. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has emphasized that expanding the tax base and reducing the tax burden on low-income citizens are top priorities.
While chairing a meeting to review the digitization of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), the implementation of an AI-based system, and other reforms, the prime minister praised the introduction of simple tax returns in Urdu. He called for a dedicated helpline to assist taxpayers with filing returns and urged the launch of digital invoicing in Urdu. “In tax reforms, the focus should remain on the convenience of the common man,” he added.
