A special central court in Lahore on Monday issued bailable arrest warrants for former Punjab chief minister Chaudhry Parvez Elahi after rejecting his request for a one-day exemption from appearance in a money laundering case.
During the proceedings, Judge Muhammad Arif Khan Niazi dismissed the plea filed by Elahi’s counsel, who argued that his client was unwell and under medical advice to rest. The court expressed dissatisfaction with the request before ordering the issuance of warrants.
Meanwhile, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Lahore has already submitted an incomplete charge sheet against Elahi and several other accused in the case.
