*Brussels* – Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir hascategorically dismissed speculations about his future role in Pakistan’spolitical setup, calling recent rumours regarding a possible presidency bid“baseless and harmful to national stability.”
In an exclusive conversation with senior journalist Sohail Warraich inBrussels, the army chief said those spreading false narratives were“opposed to both the government and the ruling elite.”
“I am the protector of this country by God’s will, and I do not seek anyother position,” he asserted, reiterating his commitment to national duty.

Speculations began circulating in July suggesting that President Asif AliZardari would be asked to resign and that Field Marshal Munir might assumethe presidency.
However, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif strongly rejected the reports lastmonth, calling them “mere speculation.”
“Field Marshal Asim Munir has never expressed any desire to become thepresident, nor is there any such plan in the offing,” the premier clarified.
Similarly, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi dismissed the rumours as“completely baseless,” warning that such false campaigns were being spreadby “hostile elements and foreign agencies to undermine political stability.”——————————Political Reconciliation and Unity
