The District and Sessions Court Islamabad on Saturday granted bail to nine Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) workers who were arrested in connection with the August 5 protest case.
Judicial Magistrate Imran Amir Abbasi presided over the hearings, with PTI lawyers Mirza Asim Baig, Ansar Kayani, Shamsa Kayani, and others representing the accused.
Advocate Mirza Asim argued that the case was baseless, pointing out that the complainant named in the FIR was not the proper party. He also noted that female PTI workers had already been granted bail in the same case. Counsel Ansar Kayani added that police records showed no recoveries from any of the accused, while Mirza Asim highlighted that a separate case had subsequently been filed with identical charges.
After considering the arguments, the court granted bail to the nine PTI workers against surety bonds of Rs 10,000 each. The case had originally been registered at Lohi Bher police station under multiple sections, including the PAPO Act.
