*New Delhi – August 16, 2025:*In a surprising move, India is reluctant to welcome Russian officials whowere to visit the country to assess the operational integrity of the S-400air defense systems.
According to local media reports, the Russian team was expected to conducta routine inspection to ensure the advanced missile systems werefunctioning in accordance with contractual agreements. However, sourcessuggest that New Delhi’s decision may be linked to growing concerns overstrategic security and operational secrecy.
India acquired the S-400 Triumf surface-to-air missile systems from Russiain a multi-billion-dollar defense deal signed in 2018, despite pressurefrom Western nations. The delivery began in late 2021 and is considered oneof the cornerstones of India’s air defense network.
Defense analysts note that cancelling such an inspection is unusual, as thechecks are typically part of post-delivery maintenance and performancereview protocols. The Indian Ministry of Defence has yet to issue anofficial statement regarding the decision, and the Russian side has notpublicly commented on the development.
