*New Delhi, August 15, 2025* — Prime Minister Narendra Modi today announcedthe launch of the *Sudarshan Chakra Mission*, a long-term national securityinitiative aimed at expanding, strengthening, and modernising theprotection of India’s critical civil and defence infrastructure by the year2035.
Unveiling the vision during his Independence Day address at the Red Fort,the Prime Minister said the mission will serve as a “multi-layered securityumbrella” to safeguard the country’s key assets against emerging threats,including cyberattacks, unmanned aerial systems, and long-range missilestrikes.
*“In this era of rapidly changing technology and global challenges, Indiamust be prepared to protect its people and infrastructure with the mostadvanced defensive systems. The Sudarshan Chakra Mission will ensure ourreadiness for the next decade and beyond,”* PM Modi stated.
*Key Objectives of the Mission*
According to preliminary details, the Sudarshan Chakra Mission will focuson:

*Modernising Air and Missile Defence Systems* to counter new-generation aerial threats. –
*Securing Critical Civil Infrastructure*, including power grids, communication networks, ports, and transportation hubs. –
*Strengthening Cyber Defence* to protect sensitive data and digital systems from hostile actors. –
