Security forces slow pace of offensive to minimize collateral damage

BAJAUR – Security forces have killed at least ten Tehreek-e-TalibanPakistan (TTP) militants in the ongoing clearance operation in Bajaurdistrict, officials confirmed on Friday.

The offensive, launched earlier this week, aims to dismantle militanthideouts and restore law and order in the restive border region. However, authorities say the pace of the operation has been deliberately slowed inrecent hours due to the presence of civilians who have yet to comply withcurfew orders.

“Many residents are still in the operation zone, and temporary relocationefforts are still in progress,” a security official told reporters. “We aretaking extra precautions to avoid civilian casualties and damage toproperty.”

Local administration officials have urged residents to cooperate fully withthe evacuation process and follow safety directives until the area isdeclared secure.

Bajaur, which borders Afghanistan’s Kunar province, has witnessed a surgein militant activity in recent months, with security forces conductingfrequent intelligence-based operations to curb the threat.

The latest operation is part of a broader nationwide campaign to counterthe resurgence of TTP and allied extremist groups.
