The Chinese government has decided to maintain tariffs of up to 30 percent on Indian fiber optics. According to details, China first imposed these tariffs in 2014 and extended them in August 2020. Now, the Chinese Ministry of Commerce has announced that the anti-dumping tariffs on Indian fiber optic products will remain in place. The anti-dumping duty on single-mode optical fiber imported from India will continue, with the maximum tariff rate set at 30.6 percent.
Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump stated that the tariff imposed on India is only the beginning. “You will see much more,” he warned, adding that many other sanctions will follow. A 50 percent tariff has already been placed on India. He further cautioned that if India or other countries do not stop purchasing Russian oil, additional sanctions will be enforced. Trump also hinted at possible tariffs on China, including a 100 percent duty on chips and semiconductors, aimed at giving American products an advantage in the global market.
Trump stressed the importance of bringing manufacturing back to the United States, noting that several American companies, including Apple, are shifting production home. “Any company that manufactures its products in the US will not face additional charges,” he said. He claimed that while a year ago America was being labeled bankrupt, today the US stock market has reached historic highs.
