*New tool lets Android users bring still images to life, similar toiPhone’s Live Photos*
ISLAMABAD – WhatsApp has unveiled a fascinating new feature that feelsstraight out of a magical movie — something reminiscent of the world ofHarry Potter. The Meta-owned messaging platform is now allowing its usersto create *“Animated Photos”*, adding motion and sound to still images.
Currently available in the Android beta version, the feature enables usersto turn ordinary static pictures into dynamic visuals, much like Apple’sLive Photos on iPhones. It captures a few seconds before and after thephoto is taken, along with optional audio, essentially transforming thepicture into a short video clip.
Using the feature is simple: open WhatsApp, head to your gallery, and tapthe motion icon in the top left corner to animate your photos.
At the moment, this functionality is only available to a limited number ofbeta testers. For now, those who wish to create animated images generallyrely on third-party apps.
Once fully rolled out, users will be able to create GIF-like animationsdirectly within WhatsApp and share them instantly with friends. Whilethere’s no official date for the global release, it is expected to beintroduced to all users in the near future.
