The rapid improvement inPakistan–Trump administration relations has raised concerns in New Delhi,while international media has acknowledged Islamabad’s successful diplomacy.

The UK-based *Financial Times* reported that the recent warmth inPakistan–US ties marks a serious diplomatic blow for India. Followingheightened tensions with India, Field Marshal Asim Munir’s two surprisevisits to the United States caught many off guard.

According to the report, his recent engagements in the US infusedunexpected cordiality into bilateral relations. With extraordinarydiplomatic tact, he won the trust of US President Donald Trump, shaking upthe political landscape of South Asia.

During his first visit, the Field Marshal attended a dinner in Washingtonwith President Trump. On his second trip, he joined the retirement ceremonyof US Central Command Chief General Michael Kurilla in Florida, presented acommemorative shield to General Dan Kane, and extended an invitation tovisit Pakistan.

Sources revealed that direct links with the White House and close ties withTrump’s business circles have positioned Pakistan prominently inWashington’s strategic priorities. Senior military leadership adopted awell-organized strategy to attract US interests in counter-terrorismcooperation, cryptocurrency, and mineral resources — with Pakistan’s“crypto diplomacy” emerging as a key factor in this success.

The report also noted that General Munir strengthened ties with Beijing andTehran while deepening his rapport with Trump. Marvin Weinbaum of theMiddle East Institute remarked that Pakistan is among the rare nationscapable of maintaining balanced relations with multiple global powerssimultaneously.

Meanwhile, India has faced economic and diplomatic setbacks, including a50% tariff on its oil imports from Russia, compounding its challenges. Inthe Pakistan–India standoff, Islamabad showcased a balanced mix ofrestraint and strength. This eventually led to a ceasefire brokered by theUS and Gulf states.

Pakistan credited Trump for the diplomatic breakthrough, while Indian PrimeMinister Narendra Modi denied any US mediation, claiming the ceasefire wasachieved through direct military-to-military communication.
