ISLAMABAD: Former Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Sher Afzal Marwat on Saturday accused Aleema Khan, sister of PTI founder Imran Khan, of effectively taking control of the party within just a year.
Speaking on ARY News’ program Aiteraz Hai, MNA Sher Afzal Marwat leveled serious allegations against Aleema Khan, claiming that especially after the arrest of Imran Khan’s wife, Bushra Bibi, Aleema has been managing all key party affairs.
“She decides who can visit Imran Khan at Adiala Jail and when. She controls the scheduling of meetings at KP House and organizes protests. All major decisions are made by Aleema Khan,” Marwat stated.
He further alleged that PTI MNA Junaid Akbar had revealed during a parliamentary meeting that Aleema Khan had threatened to cause divisions between him and party workers.
“Today, the parliamentary meeting sided with me and sent a clear message of support,” he added.
“Both I and many in the party believe that Imran Khan never intended for Aleema Khan to assume such a dominant role,” Marwat said.
According to him, Aleema Khan replaces party members in key positions and uses harsh language against colleagues. “My popularity unsettles certain party figures. Despite being expelled from PTI three times—the first to face such action—I remain supported by party workers,” he remarked.
“Unlike Bushra Bibi, who never showed any intention to control the party, Aleema Khan is clearly attempting to do so,” he observed.
Marwat also claimed that individuals such as Shahbaz Gill are part of Aleema Khan’s faction and that she exerts control over the party’s social media platforms.
“If PTI aims to succeed and secure the release of its leader, it must first eliminate Aleema Khan’s influence,” he concluded.
