WANA – A powerful explosion, suspected to be caused by an improvisedexplosive device (IED) or a suicide attack, struck a civilian area in Wana,South Waziristan on Thursday, causing multiple casualties and widespreadpanic.
Initial reports indicate that the blast resulted in numerous deaths andinjuries, with several innocent civilians feared among the victims. Thearea, one of the main population centers in the tribal district, wasdeliberately targeted, according to security officials, raising seriousconcerns about the resurgence of terrorist activity in the region.
Eyewitnesses described scenes of chaos and devastation as rescue teamsrushed to the site to evacuate the injured and recover bodies from therubble. The injured have been shifted to nearby hospitals, while securityforces have cordoned off the area and launched an investigation into theattack.
