New Delhi – August 6, 2025:The Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) has placed all airports acrossIndia on maximum alert following credible intelligence reports warning of apotential terror threat. The heightened security measures will remain inplace through a critical period between September 22 and October 2, 2025,officials confirmed on Wednesday.
According to sources, the alert comes amid concerns over possibleactivities by “anti-social elements” and suspected Pakistani-basedterrorist organizations, who may attempt to disrupt national peace andtarget aviation infrastructure.
The intelligence inputs, shared with central agencies and aviationauthorities, suggest a heightened risk of sabotage or coordinated attacksaimed at airports or civil aviation operations. Although no specificairport has been named, all major international and domestic terminalsacross India have been instructed to implement enhanced screening, deployadditional security personnel, and increase surveillance activities.
“In view of the intelligence inputs received, BCAS has directed allairports to operate under a state of maximum security vigilance. Strictmonitoring and full coordination with local police, CISF, and intelligenceagencies are underway,” said a senior official from the Ministry of CivilAviation.
The time period flagged by security agencies is significant, as itcoincides with major public events and holidays in India, including GandhiJayanti on October 2—a date that has historically seen heightened securitydue to its symbolic value.

Passengers have been advised to arrive earlier than usual for check-ins andexpect additional security checks. Airlines have also been instructed tocomply with stricter protocols, including baggage inspections and identityverifications.
This is the second major aviation-related alert issued this year. Securityexperts believe the warning should be taken seriously given the currentregional tensions and increased threats from cross-border militant outfits.
