China has reaffirmed its readiness to extend full cooperation to Pakistanin the field of space research.
This came during meeting between Chairman of the China Atomic EnergyAuthority and China’s Space Agency Shan Zhongde and Minister for Planning,Development and Special Initiatives Ahsan Iqbal in Beijing onMonday.
The meeting focused on aligning cooperation in nuclear energy and spaceresearch with broader national development goals.
Speaking on the occasion, Ahsan Iqbal said collaboration between Pakistanand China in the nuclear energy sector continues to grow and K-2, K-3, andC-5 nuclear power plants are a testimony to it.
He said Pakistan’s space program has gained new momentum and Pakistansuccessfully launched three satellites with China’s cooperation recently.He added that Pakistan is set to send its first astronaut to the Chinesespace station next year.
Ahsan Iqbal said Pakistan’s space agency, SUPARCO, has been tasked withlaunching a lunar mission by 2035.
He emphasized expanding opportunities for young Pakistani scientists toreceive higher education in space technology through Chinese exchangeprograms.
Shan Zhongde reiterated that Pakistan and China enjoy strong geo-strategicrelations which have now evolved into deep-rooted economic cooperation.
