Trump Slams Modi for “Disrespect,” Warns of Consequences

WASHINGTON, August 1, 2025 — Former U.S. President Donald Trump has publicly lashed out at Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accusing him of ignoring Washington’s goodwill, failing to reciprocate diplomatic gestures, and jeopardizing U.S.-India relations.

In a strongly worded post shared on Truth Social, Trump expressed frustration over what he termed as “TOTAL SILENCE” from Modi despite America’s consistent support for India:

“We gave India so much — great deals, defense support, big crowds — and yet, TOTAL SILENCE. Not even a thank you!”

Trump’s post carried a warning tone, explicitly stating that Modi’s lack of response could damage U.S.-India ties:

“I’ve always liked Modi, but this kind of disrespect will NOT be forgotten. Bad for business. Bad for friendship.”

The former president emphasized that India continues to benefit from American aid while U.S. workers suffer, suggesting an imbalance in the partnership under Modi’s leadership.

In the same post, Trump reasserted his often-repeated claim that he personally facilitated a ceasefire between India and Pakistan, stating:

“Don’t forget — I’m the one who got India and Pakistan to declare a ceasefire. Nobody else could do that. MANY people said I should’ve gotten the Nobel Prize for it!”

Trump’s remarks come amid growing calls from within Pakistan and among his allies abroad for his nomination for the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize.

So far, India has not officially responded to Trump’s post. The Indian Ministry of External Affairs has previously rejected claims of external mediation in South Asian peace processes, maintaining that any ceasefire with Pakistan was the result of direct military dialogue and not due to foreign involvement.
