ISLAMABAD: In yet another desperate attempt to cover up its humiliating defeat in the recent war with Pakistan, the Indian government has quietly launched a covert operation codenamed “Operation Mahadev”, security sources revealed to Geo News on Monday.
According to these sources, the operation is aimed at fabricating “encounters” in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) to falsely project military success and salvage the crumbling political image of Prime Minister Narendra Modi after the embarrassing collapse of Operation Sindoor in May.
As part of the sinister plan, Indian forces are reviving discredited tactics of fake encounters — staging attacks and then blaming Pakistan. Shockingly, the plan includes killing illegally detained Pakistani nationals and labeling them as “terrorists” who crossed the border. Many of these detainees are reportedly innocent civilians abducted by Indian intelligence agencies and held without trial.
Sources say Indian authorities have already begun staging these fabricated operations under Operation Mahadev. The strategy appears to be a continuation of the failed false flag operation in Pahalgam, after which Indian troops resumed these staged killings. On April 24, two Kashmiri youths were martyred under suspicious circumstances after allegedly “crossing the border” — an incident widely believed to have been orchestrated.
The Indian media, acting in lockstep with the Modi regime, has reportedly been provided with doctored photos, video footage, and planted weapons to spin the narrative and push the false terrorism angle.
According to sources, Indian forces plan to use some of the 723 Pakistani prisoners held in Indian jails — including 56 individuals abducted and forcibly detained by Indian agencies — in these staged attacks. These same detainees were previously mentioned by DG ISPR Lt. Gen. Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, who warned that they may be used to fabricate anti-Pakistan propaganda or falsely presented as killed “terrorists.”
Observers say these moves are part of a larger Indian disinformation campaign aimed at suppressing the Kashmiri freedom struggle and diverting attention from India’s battlefield humiliation.
India’s new operation follows its military disaster in May, when Pakistan launched Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos in retaliation for India’s failed Operation Sindoor. In the 87-hour war, Pakistan shot down six Indian fighter jets, including three of its much-hyped Rafales, and destroyed dozens of drones.
Despite New Delhi’s efforts to spin the outcome, the war ended with a U.S.-brokered ceasefire on May 10, seen globally as a major strategic and moral victory for Pakistan.
