Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has suggested that the founder of thePakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) may face a military trial. In a recentinterview with a private television channel, the minister indicated thatthe evidence against the PTI’s leader is pointing towards a military courtproceeding. Asif stated, “It is clear that the party’s founder will face amilitary trial.”
Asif further claimed that Faiz Hameed is likely attempting to shift theblame onto the PTI founder. He suggested that the events of May 9 must havebeen planned in advance.
“There must have been instructions for the May 9 incidents from the PTIfounder,” the defence minister emphasized, adding that the leader wasbitter about losing his position in government.
The minister also mentioned that Faiz Hameed was frustrated as he hadambitions of becoming the Army Chief. Asif disclosed that Hameed hadreached out to the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leadership,offering guarantees in pursuit of his goals.
