The US Geological Survey reported that at around 4:30am on Wednesday, anearthquake with a magnitude of 5.3 occurred close to Mentone, Texas.
According to the USGS, the earthquake’s epicentre was located 22 mileswest-southwest of Mentone and had a depth of approximately 4.9 miles.
The National Weather Service in El Paso reported that the earthquake wasfelt as far away as Santa Teresa, New Mexico, which is around 200 mileswest of the epicentre.
