Chairman PCB Zaka Ashraf likely to be removed from the post

Ministry of Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC) took action on Friday bysending a summary to caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar. Thissummary aimed to solicit his views regarding the future of the PakistanCricket Board (PCB) Management Committee Chairman, Zaka Ashraf.

Zaka Ashraf had been leading the management committee since its appointmentin July, with a tenure set to conclude tomorrow. It was in this contextthat the Ministry sought the input of the prime minister, who is expectedto express his stance on matters related to the PCB today.

In a separate development on Thursday, former Pakistani cricketer ShahidAfridi engaged in a meeting with Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-HaqKakar.

The discussion encompassed various aspects of Pakistan’s cricket landscape.Afridi, a former national team captain, shared his valuable insights andrecommendations to enhance the state of the game within the country.

It’s noteworthy that Prime Minister Kakar encouraged Afridi to activelyparticipate in efforts aimed at improving cricket, particularly focusing onmatters related to its development.

Previously, in an interview with ARY News, Zaka Ashraf expressed hisunderstanding that the prime minister holds the authority to decide whetherhe remains as the PCB chief or not.

Despite this uncertainty, he highlighted his commitment to maintaining thereputation of the Pakistani cricket team. Ashraf also emphasized the needfor any appointment or dismissal to be conducted with honor, in order tosafeguard the reputation of the board, and stressed the importance ofworking together for the betterment of cricket, setting aside differences.
