Asad Qaiser, a leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), was apprehended athis residence in Islamabad on Friday. His arrest was confirmed in a videostatement released by his brother, who detailed that law enforcement andplainclothes individuals arrived at their home to detain Asad Qaiser whilehe was present.
Following his arrest, Asad Qaiser was transported to an undisclosedlocation, reportedly taken into custody by both the police andanti-corruption officials at his Bani Gala residence.
The arrest is associated with corruption allegations related to theprocurement of medical equipment for the Gaju Khan Medical College Swabi.
It’s noteworthy that Asad Qaiser was part of a PTI delegation that recentlymet with Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the head of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam.
Moreover, an Anti-Corruption Court in Peshawar had previously extended hisinterim bail until November 14, stemming from accusations of illicitappointments made in the Swabi education department during the PTI’sgovernance in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
