Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell’s participation in their World Cupmatch against England is in doubt as he has suffered a concussion after arecent accident. Maxwell, who has been in excellent form, fell off a golfcart this week following a round of golf in preparation for the matchagainst the defending champions in Ahmedabad. Cricket Australia’sconcussion protocols require his condition to be closely monitored in thecoming days.
Head coach Andrew McDonald expressed optimism about Maxwell’s recovery,stating that the player is expected to undergo light exercises soon, andthe return-to-play protocol should be relatively straightforward.
Fortunately, Maxwell did not sustain any other injuries during theaccident, which could have been more severe. The concussion diagnosis cameas a shock to the team and has disrupted their plans.
Maxwell has faced adversity before, having broken his leg in a freakaccident at a birthday party in Melbourne the previous November and missingAustralia’s recent tour of South Africa due to an ankle issue.
