Bangladesh witnesses grand crowd at funeral prayers of executed leaders, Anti Haseena Wajid slogans Chanted

DHAKA: The Jamaat-e-Islami has called for a shutdown across Bangladesh on Monday to protest the execution of its secretary general Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mujahid over war crimes.

At the time of funeral prayers of JI leaders in Bangladesh, great crowd gathered, Protestors raised slogans against Haseena Wajid after funeral prayers.

Jamaat, in a statement after the execution, said that they had launched a two-day programme to protest the “murder”.

On Sunday they offered funeral prayers in absentia and on Monday they will enforce a general strike.

The party said its leader was deprived of “justice” and the government executed him out of “political vengeance”.

Dhaka Central Jail authorities said they had executed Mujahid along with BNP leader Salahuddin Quader Chowdhury at 12.55am early Sunday morning.
