Taliban Police Chief Seriously Wounded in NRF Ambush in Afghanistan

ISLAMABAD: A senior Taliban police official was seriously wounded andseveral of his bodyguards killed when National Resistance Front fightersambushed his convoy in northern Afghanistan late Thursday night.

The targeted attack took place around 11:40 PM in the Tepe Sheikhi area ofTashqurghan district, formerly known as Khulm, in Balkh province.

The district police chief for Tashqurghan and a Taliban block commandersustained injuries, while an unspecified number of armed guards travellingin the vehicle were killed instantly.

National Resistance Front sources confirmed the operation was carried outon the night of 7 Qaws 1404 according to the Afghan solar calendar,equivalent to 28 November 2025.

No casualties were reported among NRF fighters or local civilians duringthe brief but intense exchange of fire.

The resistance group described the strike as part of its ongoing campaignof precision operations aimed at weakening Taliban control acrossAfghanistan.

In a statement, the NRF reiterated its commitment to continue targetedactions until what it calls the Taliban’s unlawful occupation is ended andlegitimate governance restored.

The incident marks another escalation in low-intensity guerrilla warfarethat has persisted in parts of northern Afghanistan despite the Taliban’sconsolidation of power since 2021.

Local residents reported heavy Taliban reinforcements arriving in the areafollowing the attack, with checkpoints tightened along major routes.

Similar ambushes against Taliban officials have increased in recent months,particularly in provinces with historic opposition to the group’s rule.
