Pakistan Trains Iraqi Special Forces in Counter Terrorism

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Army has successfully concluded a specialisedtraining programme for contingents of the Iraqi Army Special Forces at theNational Counter Terrorism Centre in Pabbi, the Inter-Services PublicRelations announced on Saturday.

The intensive course focused on advanced counter-terrorism tactics, urbanwarfare techniques, and joint operational planning, equipping Iraqi troopswith skills honed from Pakistan’s extensive experience in combatingterrorism.A formal graduation ceremony marked the completion of theprogramme, attended by senior officials of the Pakistan Army and militaryrepresentatives from the Republic of Iraq.

The Iraqi contingent expressed deep appreciation for the high standards oftraining and the hospitality extended throughout the course, describing theexperience as invaluable for enhancing their operational capabilities.Bothsides reaffirmed their shared commitment to regional peace and stabilitythrough continued defence collaboration and exchange of expertise incountering common security threats.

The training initiative reflects growing military-to-military cooperationbetween Pakistan and Iraq, building on previous exchanges and mutualsupport in the fight against terrorism.Such programmes underscorePakistan’s role as a reliable partner in strengthening thecounter-terrorism capabilities of friendly nations across the Middle East.

The successful completion of the course is expected to further deepenbilateral defence ties and contribute to greater interoperability betweenthe armed forces of the two countries.
