ISLAMABAD: In a decisive blow against terrorism, the Levies Force anddistrict administration in Ziarat conducted a coordinatedintelligence-based operation on Saturday, successfully foiling a majorterrorist plot in Balochistan. Officials reported the arrest of fivemilitants, all hailing from Afghanistan’s Kandahar province, at the SperaRagha Levies check post. The timely intervention prevented a plannedassault on the district, underscoring the vigilance of local securityapparatus in maintaining regional stability.
Deputy Commissioner Ziarat confirmed the suspects’ detention occurredwithout any exchange of fire, crediting precise intelligence that triggeredthe swift action. The militants, believed to be affiliated with bannedoutfits, were intercepted en route to their target. This operationhighlights the growing cross-border threats emanating from Afghanistan,where instability continues to spill over into neighboring regions,prompting enhanced border surveillance measures by Pakistani authorities.
A significant haul of weaponry and equipment was recovered from thepossession of the arrested individuals, including 11 hand grenades, threesubmachine guns, two partially assembled M4 rifles, a grenade launcher, andmultiple magazines loaded with ammunition. Further seizures encompassednine M4 magazines, 14 SMG magazines, 420 SMG rounds, 230 M4 rounds, onekilogram of explosives, six wireless sets, four mobile phones, tworocket-propelled grenades, a dagger, 13 ammunition bags, 16 power cells,and 15 SMG grenades. Additionally, a Suzuki Carry van, a motorcycle, andincriminating literature linked to the outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistanwere confiscated, providing crucial leads for ongoing investigations.
Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfraz Bugti commended the exemplaryperformance of the Deputy Commissioner, Levies Force, and districtadministration for their role in the operation’s success.
