ISLAMABAD: The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) of Punjab has introduceda state-of-the-art Command and Control Mobile Unit, marking a significantadvancement in Pakistan’s internal security framework. Described by CTDspokesperson as a “roving headquarters,” this innovative vehicle-mountedsystem is designed to enhance coordination and response capabilities duringsensitive events. It integrates advanced technologies to provide seamlessoperational support, ensuring rapid deployment across urban and borderregions.
The mobile unit will be strategically deployed for major gatherings,including the annual Raiwind Ijtema, Data Darbar festivals, internationalcricket matches, and Ashura processions. During large political rallies andpublic assemblies, it will function as a dedicated mobile operationsheadquarters. This setup allows for centralized monitoring and command,minimizing vulnerabilities associated with static control centers andenabling proactive threat mitigation in dynamic environments.
Equipped with facial recognition software, the unit facilitates instantidentification of individuals in crowds at rallies and processions. Thermalimaging cameras, live drone feeds, and GIS mapping capabilities enableprecise tracking of sensitive routes and key residences. During liveoperations, security forces will receive real-time data, video feeds, andanalytical assistance directly from the van, streamlining decision-makingand resource allocation for optimal effectiveness.
The vehicle’s interior features multi-power workstations and presentationmodules, supporting collaborative briefings and data analysis on the move.As a backup command center, it can operate from Lahore to Karachi, Quetta,Peshawar, and even border areas, ensuring continuity in high-stakesscenarios. Special operations teams will gain integrated access to nationaldatabases, police networks, and telecommunications infrastructure,amplifying intelligence-sharing and operational agility.

Complementing these systems are 360-degree PTZ cameras, pinholesurveillance devices, and drone-mounted optics, providing comprehensivesituational awareness.
