PM Narendra Modi stops his speech during rally in respect of Azaan

NEW DELHI: India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi stopped his speech in the middle during an election rally in respect of Azaan.

Modi said “This is our parampara (heritage). We should pay respect to all religions and respect their rituals and customs.   We should be respectful so that the unity of India is maintained.”

He added “Azaan is underway and anyone’s prayers shouldn’t be interrupted because of us. Hence, I decided to pause and take a rest for a brief period.”

A large number of people inspired from Modi’s act and claimed to vote for him.

Modi was speaking at West Bengal election campaign against Congress and CPI (M) alliance.

Modi said “There was a time when Bengal was capital of industries, Left broke it back and this government buried it.

This is not the first that a Hindu leader stopped his speech during Azaan, Arvind Kejriwal chief of Aam Aadmi’s Party also did the same at a general election rally in Varanasi on 26 March 2014 to drew the attention of voters.
