PESHAWAR: Army Chief spends a day with soldiers in NWA

PESHAWAR: Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif visited North Waziristan here  on Tuesday and spent his day with Pak Army soldiers and tribal elders.

According to ISPR, Army Chief was briefed over the ongoing operation Zarb-e-Azab and rehabilitation process of IDPs. Army Chief was informed that areas of NWA are being cleared in the last phase of operation Zarb-e-Azab.

Army Chief expressed his satisfaction over the last phase of operation Zarb-e-Azab saying that operation will continue till the end of militant’s hideouts.

He also lauded the morale of Pak Army officers and soldiers, taking part in operation despite of difficulties.

General Raheel also appreciated the successes of Intelligence agencies to eradicate the sleeping cells of terrorists in urban areas. Tribal elders expressed their pleasure over improvement of security situation in tribal areas.

While talking to tribal elders at the occasion, Army Chief assured them that Pak Army will stay in areas till the completion of rehabilitation process. Tribal elders requested Army Chief to establish standard educational institution in NWA.

He also laid the foundation stone of Younis Khan Sports Complex here at Miran Shah which will be completed by Pak Army engineers. Cricketer Younis Khan was also present at the occasion.
