KARACHI: Pak Navy Chief inaugurates Mangroves Plantation drive to save coastal areas

KARACHI: Pakistan Navy has kicked off Mangroves Plantation drive here at coastal areas of Sindh and Baluchistan on the occasion of World Forest Day as per the Green Pakistan vision of Prime Minister.

As per details, Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Zakaullah as a chief guest formally inaugurated the campaign.

Senior military and civil officials, traders, media persons, World Wide Fund for Nature – Pakistan, International Union for  the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) representatives and federal and provincial forest officers also participated in the opening ceremony. The ceremony was held at Younasabad area of the Karachi coast.

While addressing the ceremony, Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Zaka Ullah said that the destruction of Mangroves is not only affecting marine life of our coastal areas but also has affected the livelihood of millions of people living in these areas.
