Pakistan holds first ever National Nuclear Security Conference outside IAEA Headquarters

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has confirmed the amended convention for the protection of nuclear content while 5-days annual nuclear security training conference was held in Pakistan with the collaboration of international organization of Atomic Energy.

As per details, the participants of the conference visited Atomic Security Centers NISAS and PIEA and lauded the high standards of Pakistan for atomic security and training.

According to foreign office spokesperson, President Mamnoon Hussain has signed on the amended  convention document for the protection of nuclear content on the advice of PM Nawaz.

The spokesperson further added that the confirmation of amended convention is a proof that Pakistan is a responsible atomic state. He stated that 5-days nuclear security conference was held in Islamabad from 14 to 18 March.

It was the first time that Nuclear Security Conference was held outside the Headquarters of IAEA.  56 officials of 29 countries participated in conference.

Officials from USA, Russia, Afghanistan, Kenya, Indonesia, China, UK, South Africa, Thailand, Korea, Ukraine, Vietnam and Sudan took part in the conference.
