125,000 fake awardees unearthed in Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP)

ISLAMABAD: Corruption worth crores has been unearthed in Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP). Over 125,000 fake awardees are being paid for 3 years with the collusion of BISP employees.

As per details, the Chairperson of BISP Marvi Mamon told the Standing Committee of Senate for Finance that more than 125,000 fake awardees had been receiving BISP funds for 3 years while they did not deserve for the funds of BISP.

She revealed that 75 BISP employees are involved in corruption scandal. National treasures had to face loss of 30 crore due to corruption in BISP. She added that the funds of fake awardees had been suspended and started investigation against them.

Marvi further said that a joint team of BISP and NADRA will make departmental audit of BISP. The process of biometric verification of all the beneficiaries of BISP will be started in July and the process will be completed in February 2017.
