LAHORE: Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) have placed 56 out of 13,849 geo-tagged seminaries in “A” category due to their alleged association with banned outfits.
According to the documents, most of the seminaries placed in “A” category have affiliation with the Deobandi sect. Home Department official revealed that government has collected updated information about the seminaries across the province.
“We have information about their sectarian affiliation and number of students and teachers at each facility,” he said.
The information collected by government includes seminary administrator’s photograph and contact details, seminary source of income and the number of students and teachers.
