6 Al-Qaeda terrorists killed in Okara encounter

OKARA: (APP) As many as six terrorists were killed while two law enforcement agencies personnel sustained injuries in a gun battle in a village near Okara during wee hours of Wednesday morning.

According to details, intelligence agencies and police launched a joint operation against terrorists on a tip-off in village 28 L-2 near Okara upon which the militants present in the area opened fire.

The terrorists are known as Amir Sohaib, Saeed-ur-Rehman, Sami, Yasib-ur-Rehman and the identity of rest of detained terrorists have not confirmed. The arrested terrorists are from Hangu, Attock, Bannu and Shangla.

It is reported that some terrorists managed to escape amid operation; however, there is no official confirmation in this connection. However, District Police Officer Faisal Rana said the operation against the alleged terrorists was carried out on information about presence of terrorists, belonging to al-Qaeda, in a house at a village near Okara.

He said the shootout left six terrorists dead and two security personnel injured, adding that arms and ammunition was recovered from the house. The law enforcement agencies returned the fire as a result six terrorist were killed.

At least two law enforcement agencies personnel were wounded in exchange of fire with the terrorists. Rocket launchers, material to make bombs and other arms were recovered from the dead terrorists. The law enforcement agencies have cordoned of the area and launched a search operation.
