Domestic violence effects on children s grooming

SARGODHA: (APP) Chief Professional Commissioner for Children Nasreen Farooq has said that provision of education, protection and justice to children was a responsibility of the parents, society and the state at large, and all efforts should be made to stop violence against children.

Speaking at a seminar, organised here in collaboration with the Ombudsman Department and UNICEF to highlight abilities, protection, growth and rights of children, the provincial chief commissioner said that children deserved parents’ attention and torture by them had always resulted in their personality destruction.

According to research studies, children mostly run away from their homes due to unfriendly environment and violence. Improper attention by parents also affects personality of children, she added.

District Commissioner Children Rights Syed Razi Gillani said that according to the international charter, torture of children was a crime and the Provincial Chief Commissioner Office had been established to check crimes against children. He said a helpline 1050 had also been set up in this regard.
