KPK Government to introduce Domestic Violence Bill for women

PESHAWAR: (APP) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Elementary and Secondary Education, Muhammad Atif has said that no religion or civilized society permit domestic violence and effective legislation was needed for the purpose that should not be in conflict with our religion Islam.

He was addressing a consultation session on Domestic Violence Bill Khyber Pakhtunkhwaâ organized by Provincial Commission on the Status of Women in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa here on Thursday.

The session among others was addressed by Deputy Speaker KP Assembly Dr. Mehr Taj Roghani and attended by parliamentarians and members of civil society. A detail presentation was also given to the participants on salient features of the purposed bill and ascertained their opinion also.

It was also decided to ascertain opinion of Council of Islamic Ideology (C11) and Ulema on the subject.

Speaking on the occasion, minister said that if there were any reservations of the council regarding bill, it should be removed without any further delay to make early legislation adding it should be resolved immediately keeping in view interest of the society.

Minister said PTI government was against the domestic violence of any kind and it is the reason that practical work has been started for legislation on the subject matter.
