ISLAMABAD: Panama Papers case verdict date may be delayed in Supreme Court due to the technical grounds as the detailed verdict is expected to be quite lengthy and require lots of technical work.
This was also pointed out by the honourable Justice of the Supreme Court.
The Supreme Court of Pakistan is expected to announce much awaited judgment in the Panama Papers case.
A five-member larger bench of the Supreme Court hearing the case of Panama Papers had concluded hearing on February 23, and the final judgment was reserved.
Headed by Justice Asif Saeed Khosa, the larger bench comprises Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan, Justice Gulzar Ahmed, Justice Sh Azmat Saeed and Justice Ijazul Ahsan.
Leaked documents from the Mossack Fonseca law firm in Panama last year showed Prime Minister Nawaz Shairf’s sons Hassan and Hussain, and daughter Maryam, owned at least three offshore holding companies registered in the British Virgin Islands.
The International Consortium of Investigative Journalists, which studied the papers, said those companies had engaged in at least $25 million in property and acquisition deals.
