Panama Leaks decision in SC: 10 points how the verdict goes against PM Nawaz Sharif

ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court of Pakistan has announced the Panama case verdict in a much awaited decision. The PM and family have survived the sudden attack but stand badly bruised and still vulnerable to disqualification.

How the decision goes against the PM family.

1.The disqualification threat still looms over PM.

2. PM family will have to appear before the JIT.

3. No clean chit has been given to the PM and family.

4. JIT is under the Supreme Court bench and not under government.

5. No credible evidence has been accepted by the Supreme Court.

6.Qatari letter has been dismissed by the Supreme Court.

7. Two judges have termed PM Nawaz Sharif as not Sadiq and Ameen.

8. Only one more Justice needs to rule against the PM on JIT Report.

9. The intelligence agencies have been given a prominent hand in the investigations.

10. The PM family will be media trialed for next 60 days.

11. The Hudaybiya Mills case has been reopened in which Ishaq Dar has already confessed of the money laundering. The re investigations has to be completed in 45 days.

12. The three judges who have not disqualified the PM have disagreed with the evidence presented by the PM Counsel.

13. The basic question of the money trail still stands unanswered.

14. The JIT has power to investigate the case against PM even in other countries where ever felt appropriate.

15. The Prime Minister has been declared as a liar by the honourable Judge.

16. PM Nawaz Sharif’s father Mian Sharif assets and money transfer abroad would be investigated.

According to the judgement, the premier would not be disqualified and a JIT (Joint Investigation Team) would be formed to probe money trail of Sharif family. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif along with Hassan and Hussain nawaz would appear before the JIT.

Chairman NAB, FIA both failed to perform their duties – Supreme Court

The JIT would report to the court after every two weeks and would complete the proceedings in 60 days.

The JIT would be including representatives from Intra Services Intelligence, Military Intelligence, Federal Investigation Agency, Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan and National Accountability Burueau. The JIT would start its proceedings in next seven days.

The final decision of supreme court would be based on the report finalized by JIT.

Three of the judges agreed to the judgement passed out by apex court whereas two judges Justice Asif Khosa and Justice Gulzar Ahmed had a dissenting opinion, who wanted premier to be de-notified.

The judgement comprising of 540 pages was majorly authored by Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan

The judges observed that an investigation was still needed to probe money trail regarding Qatari investment.

It also stated that the chairman NAB was unable to perform his duties which led to the formation of Joint Investigation Team (JIT).

The judgement was announced by a five-member bench headed by Justice Asif Saeed Khosa and comprising Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan, Justice Gulzar Ahmed, Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed and Justice Ejaz ul Ahsan.
