The construction work on 1410 MW-Tarbela 4th extension hydropower project is in full swing at Tarbela dam.
The project is being constructed on tunnel No 4 of with three proposed units with an installed capacity of four hundred seventy MW each.
According to WAPDA sources, the first unit of the project is expected to be completed in August this year while other two units will start power generation early next year.
The project upon completion will increase generation capacity of Tarbela hydropower project from existing three thousand four hundred seventy-eight megawatt to four thousand eight hundred eighty-eight megawatt.
Upon competition, the project will not only help overcome electricity shortage, but also contribute inexpensive and clean energy.
