Adviser to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz says Pakistan will pursue a neutral policy on the Gulf crisis and try its level best for reconciliation among brotherly Muslim countries.
He was briefing Senate Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs, which met in Islamabad on Wednesday, on Pakistan’s foreign policy in the context of Gulf crisis.
The Adviser on Foreign Affairs said former Army Chief Raheel Sharif has taken command of the 41-nation Muslim Military Alliance in his personal capacity.
In her remarks, Committee Chairperson Nuzhat Sadiq said Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has not only met Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz al-Saud as part of his mediatory efforts in the Gulf, but also spoke with Qatari Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani on the phone regarding a resolution to the rift.
