Indian Army serving Brigadier arrested by Bihar Police

For the first time in Bihar, a brigadier rank officer was arrested by the police from Dhangai village of Bhojpur district, 60km west of the state capital, on charges of allegedly consuming liquor and violating Bihar’s prohibition laws, besides creating nuisance in the locality late on Friday evening.

The Brigadier identified as Dhanus Bhanjan Pathak, 49, currently posted at Dibrugarh in Assam, arrived at his native place three days ago on a week-long leave to attend a marriage function. He was sent to judicial custody on Saturday.

Police said, a case has been lodged with Dhangain police station on the basis of statement of his brother Chittaranjan Pathak, alleging that the army officer assaulted his wife in a drunken state.

SDPO (Jagdishpur) Daya Shankar confirming the arrest of the army officer suspected it to be a fall out of a land dispute between the brothers.

Chittarajan’s wife had made a call to police at around 9.30pm and informed that brother in-law was creating a ruckus in an inebriated condition and had assaulted family members.

On getting information a police team reached Dalipur village and overpowered the army officer. He was taken to sadar hospital where the doctor took blood sample and breathalyser test, which proved positive.
