Shahid Khaqan Abbasi while addressing the National Assembly of Pakistan said strengthening economy and agriculture, promotion of tax culture and investment and integrated security would be his top priorities.
Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said there would be no load-shedding after November this year.
He said ten thousand megawatt of additional electricity is being added to the national grid.
Prime Minister-elect asked countrymen to pay their taxes honestly as he plans to take stern action against those involved in tax evasion.
He said rich people must pay their taxes for Pakistan’s economy to improve. Mr. Abbasi said he would focus on the issue in the coming months.
Abbasi also said he hoped that one day the deposed prime minister Nawaz Sharif would return to parliament.
Prime Minister elect said he would ensure rule of law and would run the country strictly according to the constitution.
Referring to the Supreme Court verdict in Panama Papers case, he said it has no precedent but PML(N) accepted it in letter and spirit and implemented the verdict.
He said legal experts are not ready to accept this judgment and people of Pakistan have rejected this.
Shahid Khaqan expressed satisfaction that there was no derailment of democracy and the system is back on track within four days.
He said there are no allegations of corruption against Mian Nawaz Sharif. His only fault was that he made Pakistan nuclear power, stabilised economy, brought 60 billion dollar investment to the country under CPEC, worked hard to end load-shedding, imported LNG to run industry and introduced politics of decency.
He referred to problems of Karachi and said the package announced by former Prime Minister for the mega city would be implemented and development of FATA would be expedited.
The Prime Minister-elect thanked Mian Nawaz Sharif for nominating him for the top slot and his party and allies for reposing confidence in him. He also thanked the opposition for participating in the democratic process.
